Thompson Investment Management, Inc. (TIM) is a registered investment advisor based in Madison, Wisconsin, with client relationships dating back to 1984. Our firm’s proprietary mutual fund family, Thompson IM Funds, Inc., was founded in 1987. Our investment management, client services, securities trading and accounting teams have worked together for many years. In fact, firm employee tenure averages more than 14 years, which has given our experienced staff the opportunity to work through the myriad challenges presented by fluctuating financial markets.

Dan J. Bagin, CFA

 

Dan J. Bagin, CFA, is a Senior Research Analyst at Thompson Investment Management, Inc. Prior to joining Thompson Investment Management, he worked in wealth management at BMO Harris in Madison and Milwaukee. Dan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a B.S. degree in Finance. He earned an M.B.A from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated from the Applied Security Analysis Program. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

James T. Evans, CFA

 

James T. Evans, CFA, is Chief Investment Officer, Principal, and a Portfolio Manager at Thompson Investment Management. Prior to joining Thompson Investment Management in March 2005, he was a Managing Director for Nakoma Capital Management in Madison, Wisconsin for five years. James graduated summa cum laude from Macalester College with a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science. He earned an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. James completed the Applied Security Analysis Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Business School. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

James and his wife spend most of their personal time raising their four children. With his remaining spare time he looks to satisfy his thirst for knowledge, paying particular attention to astronomy, astrophysics, history, plate tectonics, and politics. Causes near to his heart include his church, research into a cure for autism and the Chicago Cubs.

Morgan C. Mueller, CFA

 

Morgan C. Mueller, CFA, is the Retirement Plan Specialist and a Portfolio Manager at Thompson Investment Management, Inc. He received a B.S. degree with a concentration in Finance from Edgewood College. Morgan is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

Morgan is an active member of Downtown Madison, Inc. (DMI), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Middleton Chamber of Commerce and is on the board of Wisconsin Badger Camp.

 

In his spare time, he enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities including: golfing, bow hunting, and fishing. Morgan and his wife enjoy spending time with their son and watching all the various activities in which he participates. All three of them are diehard Wisconsin sports fans and enjoy attending various games throughout the year.

Jason L. Stephens, CFA

 

Jason L. Stephens, CFA, is Chief Executive Officer, President, Principal, and a Portfolio Manager at Thompson Investment Management. He has worked in various capacities for Thompson Investment Management and Thompson, Plumb & Associates, Inc. since 2002. Jason earned a B.S. in English and Communication Arts, an M.A. in Arts Administration and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the CFA Institute and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

Jason currently serves on the board of directors of Oncospace, Inc., is a trustee of the Wisconsin Union Association and is an advisor to the investment committee of the Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands. He also enjoys working with high school students in the Madison East Investment Group.

Will Templeton

 

Will Templeton is a Research Analyst at Thompson Investment Management. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.B.A. in Finance, Investment, and Banking and an M.S. in Finance where he completed the Applied Security Analysis Program. Will was also awarded the Evans Scholarship for caddies. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, skiing, and rooting for the Green Bay Packers.

John W. Thompson, CFA

 

John W. Thompson, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager at Thompson Investment Management. John was previously President and Chairman of Thompson Investment Management when founding the firm in January, 2004. In 1984 he founded Thompson, Plumb & Associates where he served as President. Previously, he served as Senior Trust and Investment Officer at Firstar Bank in Madison, Wisconsin. John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

In his personal time, John enjoys woodworking, traveling, boating and genealogy. John’s travels often involve visiting his 9 grandchildren. John serves on the Wisconsin Historical Society Board of Curators.
